benefits to adding more additives?

You might have seen me post a few times about low mpg, I run power service grey bottle in the warm weather and white in the cold. I had been using 1/3 botlte ( the small one ) per fillup and recently tried a half a bottle. I did notice what could be a bit more than a mile to the gallon better and it got me to wonder if there is any benefit to going to a full bottle to the tank. Also wonder to the negative effects of this. As for cost, sure I might be able to buy 2 gallons of fuel for the price of a bottle, that would at my current mpg, hand calc, spedo recalibrated, get me 27 miles down the road. yeah, I am only getting 13.5 mpg. should I give it a go and see what it does? I am planing a trip this weekend to PETRO in PA and could really use all the help I can get making it there and back on one tank.

what I found in reading the ps/mmo mix threads, is that in a 3/1 ratio mix, depending on volume used, the PS portion is a double dose according to the PS label....

Here's a discussion I'd like to have:

Cetane rating...Most pumps around here are 40 cetane...A few are 42....What should we be shooting for?? 50?? Or is there an unsafe level of cetane? (premature detonation maybe)

How much does PS raise cetane?? What about the double dose? What does mixing addatives do for cetane?

Then of course the whole lubricity thing...

Superduty...Where are you???

I've used fuel with cetane as high as 52 for long periods (Cenex) no problem.

I've always heard that mixing additives is a big no-no as there can be unexpected chemical interactions.
