Actually, in my experience, bigger doesn't always mean louder and deeper. I had a 4" turbo back straightpipe MBRP exhaust on my last 2001 CTD. My new 2001 CTD had a stock (3.5", right?) straightpipe exhaust and you know what? It's actually louder and deeper than my 4" was.

 

that MBRP probably had some sort of muffler/resonator on it....

 

Nope, it was straight all the way back.

 

no worries.... if your Dodge is louder than mine, I owe you a beer and I haven't bought someone else beer in a long time.

 

We have a 6" exhaust on both of our Dodges. They are pretty loud and really are only for trucks up in the 700 + HP range.

 

yes i have head what a 6 in all the way back truck sounds like, at the dyno in imler. guys name was Alex, nice guy, dynoed 700 hp off a single turbo. if you go in my pics you can see it its the grey dodge with the camper shell. it was loud, so loud i covered my ears.
