Allison auto tranny?

Re:Allison auto tranny?
Man, there are some smarties out there. Darryl, you bought a test unit? In the past , Dodge has never let anything like that out for sale. In the 2002 model year when the all new 1/2 tons came out, we got to go to the plant to get a look at the new trucks before reular production had started. They had about 5 or 6 trucks sitting there for us to look at. They are called pilots. The full production had not actually started yet. These trucks looked exactly like the production trucks that we saw a few weeks later. I asked the zone product trainer what would be done with these trucks, and he said that these trucks were only built to practice for the real production models and for us to look at, and that these trucks would be sent to the crusher :'( He said that is normal procedure for pre-production models and test mules? :'(

The seller changed his information in the ad to reflect that the trans was not an Allison. I feel sorry for the guy. I guess the dealer and the previous owner both told him it was an Allison. Bummer.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=31831

It's amazing to me that this rumor won't die. It's kinda like the Ford owning Cummins thing on a smaller scale. Some of it just won't go away.

Re:Allison auto tranny?
Dodge has nevered offered an Allison behind the Cummins engine. Or behind any other engine for that fact. It's dealers liek that, that give the rest of us dealers a bad name >

Re:Allison auto tranny?
When I ordered my truck in 96, I was told it was going to have an Allison Tranny since I was ordering everything in the heavy duty package.
Of course it came with the 47RE, was the Dealer conning me or just confused?
Only he knows for sure.
Like Luke say's it is guys like that who hurt the image of all dealers, you just need to remember they are NOT all alike.
Look around till you find one you feel is honest with you, they are out there!
