General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

Again!!!

Found a puddle of fluid under my truck last night. Took to the dealer to find out my water pump failed, What next??? Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have this many problems with a Dodge. But I should have known as I have seen and heard of to many complaints and the over 15 times my truck has been into the dealership for my 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 that I bought brand new. I have filed Lemon Law which I have come to realize means nothing since even if I have to go to abitration, it seems I won't win a replacement for my piece of junk truck. Way to treat a Military service member, Dodge!!!

DaimlerChrysler could care less about customer satisfaction. When at dealership all they were trying to do is get me to trade a paid for truck for a 2011. And have payments again!!! First impressions are lasting impressions. It would be the best thing if Dodge just went bankrupt, which I have over-heard at a dealership, could happen. Or maybe a little media attention might do the trick.

Water pumps fail, no matter what brand. I see no reason to get so mad about it.

Everything is made in China these days including Cummins diesel engine parts. I have to admit I have replaced many more water pumps on third generation trucks then all the first and second generation combined. That's since Dodge decided to use Cummins in their Dodge trucks. Most pumps are covered to 100K miles or 5 years. The water pump bearing is failing some fail as early as 30k miles. Cummins may have changed their parts supplier since the new pumps are coming with plastic empeller now.

At least it's a 20 minute job. You should try changing one on a Duramax.

A wise fellow once said to me,

"Lower your standards for others , that way when they do something great you'll be pleasantly suprised. That's better than holding them high and being frustrated with their actions all the time."

This has really helped me a lot, especially when dealing with sales people and counter help.

Thanks for serving! Hang in there.

Well Spooler, when your truck spends 50% of the time in the shop, what I'm suppose to be, "Oh Well". No. Has your truck tranny gone out with only 3,000 miles on it? Has transfer case gone out? Have you had 3 back windows put in because of leaks? Has your A/C gone out twice in a year and a half? Has your truck ever had the gear selecter stuck in reverse? Have you had your blend doors replaced twice? I can go on and on.

You must have got a bad one or you are abusing it.

My truck has only been in the shop twice, knock on wood!, under warranty luckily. For the water pump and AC.

At 70K miles now it will be getting some front end work done soon.

Yeah, I'm not so happy about the whole situation. I'm station in Ga now and the dealership here wants to put me in a 2011, but this one I got is paid for, I don't want another payment, not now at least. In the next couple of years before I hit that 100,000 miles and wife's car is paid off, its going. I got an extended warranty which helps out. You know its sad that my last 2 duty stations the Marines I work with said cause of all my issues they won't buy dodge. Heck, when I was stationed in Cali, for my going away plaque they wrote:

"Your redneck mannerisms and phrases will be sorely missed. All of us "city slickers" appreciate the salesmanship your new truck has provided us on Daimler-Chryslers behalf. Fair winds and following seas." Semper Fi

No rednecktastic, I take care of my stuff, I'm very picky when it comes to appreciating what you have. And all required maintenance has been preformed. The neighbor asked me once. Are all Marines that way on how they take care of their vehicles?
