6.2 oil problems

I Have an 86 full size blazer with the 6.2l diesel. A while back i had to rebuild it and im just now getting it back into the truck. the manuals say to use straight 30 weight oil, but i was thinking about useing delo 400. is there much of a difference? if so what is it? also would it be worth it to replace all the injectors while im still working on it?

I would use the 30 weight for the inital break in and then switch. As far as injectors, how many miles on them?

the motor itself only had 56k on it, but it is an old military blazer and from what i was told the just let the trucks idle for countless hours. would that hurt the injectors at all?

If you can get the injectors out easily, I would have them pop tested. I have a 92 6.5td, and had the newer bosch tips put on them, and it made a noticeable difference.

Delo is a brand name. Use straight 30 weight Delo. It is common to get. Used it for years in Detroits.

I would go with what you are comfortable with so far as the oil. My cousin runs rotella 15-40 in his 93 6.5 and it does fine.

The gm 6.2s and 6.5's are indirect injection, I believe, so I do not know if idle time would affect them........not sure how it affects anything other than the common rail injectors........idle time is supposed to be bad on them. Since it is out, I would probably change them for peace of mind. Good luck.

I went to the local auto zone and they only had 5w-30 in the delo brand. as well as the local wal-mart. as far as the injectors where can i have them pop tested? what exactly is it? and would it cost more or less than getting new ones? i found a rebuilt set on ebay for $130.

I would not put that light of oil in the engine designed for 30 weight.

Does not have to be Delo, although that's a good one. But any quality straight 30 wt will be ok. Getting harder to find 30 wt. over the last few years.

A Chevron distributer will have it. We had a parts store here that was selling it as of last year. It does still have to be diesel rated.

Rotella usually has 30wt available at most places, Advance and Tractor Supply come to mind. My stepfather has an 85 CUCV m1008 k30 pickup and the military or whoever sprayed in stencil 15w40 on it, so you wont have a problem with either one. But a Diesel rated 30wt will be best for break in.

thanks everyone im going to go with the 30 for break in and 15w-40 from then on. thats is what i wanted to run in it but i didnt know if that would be alright. where did the m1008 have that stenciled at? mine is a m1009 cucv.
not to get of the main topic but have you ever rode in the m1008 csramsey64 because i am thinking about regearing it and the m1008's are supposed to have 4.56 gears while the m1009's have the 3.08 and i was wondering if the 4.56 was way to low or halfway decent. the 3.08 is horrible i cant even use 4 wheel high only low range. thanks again though.
