6.0 vs 5.9

Both turbos on my powerstroke 6.0 are blown and considering replacing the turbos or simply swapping out for a cummins 5.9 with 110000 miles on it. Any thoughts as to what is better in the short term and long term for performance and cost of conversion vs cost of turbo replacement. Any advice would be appreciated!

What is a 6.0??

In all seriousness, I would swap over to a 12V 5.9 IF the truck was clean enough and I planned on keeping it.

Thank you! I wouldn't even think about it but have the 5.9 on hand. My gut says it will cost less to swap out the engine as compared to replacing turbos parts and labor. I've been told that a cummins swap can be a moving target tho. Should I just plan on buying all parts new including recommended but not mandated parts? What gets complicated? Wiring harness or transmission plate? Leaning toward cummins swap as the truck is in excellent shape XLT with ALL the luxuries! VERY nice truck,,, just needs turbo or swap......

A Fummins is a great platform, especially with the 90's era crew cabs. I'd love one someday. Swapping into a 2003-2009 era Ford may prove a lot more difficult or there would be quite a following and plenty of aftermarket support...the 6.0's sucked for reliability and they are always available around here for low prices...I'll stick with my truck for the time being....

You may want to post up in the specialty forums section...Cummins Swap
