5 speed trans question.

What years are affected by the 5th gear problems? Nut falling off 5th in particular. Also on clutches for general use are the stockers good? what is parts cost for stock type for replacement. It seems aftermarket is quite a bit more.

I'm not sure what year they fixed the 5th gear nut problem, but it only affects NV4500's, not the old Getrags. The stock clutches are adequate for a stock truck pulling loads within Dodge's reccomendations. A reman clutch set should cost less than $300.

The only 5th gear problem we 1st gen guys have is the synchros wearing out and causing the trans to jump out of 5th. There's no 5th gear nut to back off in a Getrag.
