5.9 into a Chevy
I have a 96 Chev. 3500 HD with a sick 6.5. and 5 speed.I was wondering what would be needed to swap in a 5.9 cummins and hopefully the intercooler.I have an intercooled 5.9 in a donor D-350 Western Hauler that had a Getrag behind it. I know I have to change the belhousing adapter to mate up to the Chev belhousing.Anybody done it,how big a PITA is it? Thanks!

12valvechevydually runs one in his truck, i see 3 issues none that should present great problems.
1--adapter plate as you mentioned, i cant find the link but theres a comp that makes a kit,i'll look again.
2--the wiring, if you have a doner pull everything, it be a pain but you need some of it.
3--motor mounts, the kit i mentioned had plans to fab them.
And last, whats going happen to the hauler bed ? id be interested.

A guy at the local tire shop has a 5.9 swapped into a mid 80's chev crew cab. I went to look and see how he did it before I decided to fix mine cosmeticly. He is running a intercooled 5.9 into a 2wd getrag going into a divorced np205. He did not do the conversion himself and could not offer any insite to the swap. All I could see was it was a tight fit. as for all the electrics I did not get into that in any detail. Jethrro
