5.9 and I need your opinion....please
Hey guys,
This is my first post and I'm not a Dodge owner....yet!
I was planning on reading a lot of the posts and getting an education.....but
I found a 1998 Ram SLT with 5.9 and 188,000 miles Fully Loaded for $3,700 and second owner. He says it is Very Clean, too.
I'm looking for a diesel that will get good fuel mileage, will the 5.9 do that and what should I expect?
Is the 5.9 to heavy for a 1500?
Any and all information y'all can share would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
don in Texas

The 5.9 Cummins only comes in 3/4 and 1 ton pickups and medium duty trucks ( Straight trucks, Dump trucks, school bus, ect.) Dodge does make a5.9 gas engine for the 1/2 ton trucks. If your looking to get a good reliable used diesel with good fuel millage a unbelievable torque you've came to the right place. 188,000 miles on Cummins engine in nothing you'll find several around the site that have 400,000 plus on them and getting 20 something MPG's. I would look around on the 2nd gen forums for information on what your looking for. 3rd gen trucks are much newer and a bit more exspensive.
