5.9 or 6.7? pro's con's need some feedback

Well im looking to get back in the diesel market again and Having owned a cummins in the past (my sig) I know its the only diesel to go with.. But im on the fence on witch motor to go with the 5.9 or the 6.7.

I dont tow much at all mabe a few quads and might rent a travel trailer or something in the future for a trip other than that its a daily driver 80% highway. Reason for wanting to own a diesel is good fuel mileage for a large comfortable truck and u can haul and drive the **** out of it and it beggs for more.

The 5.9 I had in my 05 2500 was awesome I got 18.5 mpg average on highway with the 4.10's no less and it never had a prob. I sold it cause I got the road race bug again and well ya i was stupid. Only prob i had with the truck was the crappy seats and the kinda laggy 4 speed.

Now the new 6.7 has come out and looks to be a realy good set up minus teh crappy emissions crap on it. I have not gone and driven one yet but I like the new exhaust brake set up and the new auto 6spd from what I have read on the boards. From the looks on this board the new trucks seem to get good highways mileage and can drive at SOCAL freeway speeds 70-75 and not be hovering in the 2500 rpm range gulping diesel down as much as the 4 speed does.

I plan on doing minimal towing like i said and leveling it out and putting on some 315's and enjoying it. My local delers have plenty of 07s with 5.9's and 6.7's but I cant decide I would prob get a box like edge for the 5.9 for some fun but I dont mind giving that up for the smoothness and highway mileage of the new 6.7

So what would u guys gals recomend for my needs

thanks
-Chris

I'm no expert, but the way I see it is the new motor has more emissions stuff on it which complicates things and adds to the cost, but if you want an auto a 6 speed would be really nice.

Since the dealer has both, I think you had better go take some test drives.

Then you would be in a position to decide if you like the new motor/transmission better, and if so if you like it better enough to pay the difference.

I think the jury is out on the new truck. The old models with auto are well proven & get good mileage. On top up that, I am sure you can get a much better deal on a 5.9. Not to mention no issues with ANY diesel fuel. there will be some added cost for the emissions maintenance.
The good news for the new model is more torque & HP and the 6 speed, but how much more $$?
They have made 1.5 Million 5.9's, with a history that is stellar. How many of the new ones have been made?

Now you know that's not fair.
