If you ran it out of fuel, you need to loosen the fuel line at the injection pump. Then hand pump the lift pump. If it doen't feel like it is pumping, turn the crank 1/2 turn. Once you get fuel, tighten up the fuel line and pump a little more. You may need to loosen the injector line at the injectors and crank it until some are dripping fuel. Tighten them back up and it should start.
If you don't get fuel it may be gelled or have a case of algea.

Crack a couple of injector lines, at the injector, and turn it over. I may take a little bit but it beats the hell out of having to hand pump the system. And before anyone tells me it will destroy the IP, the starter won't turn fast enough to get the IP hot or to smoke the bearings. I would however fill the fuel filter before rolling it over.

The 1/2" i.d. rubber fuel hose between the lift pump and the injection pump on my 580 had a couple of hairline cracks that went unnoticed because everything is painted black, I found them by squeezing the hose. After replacing the hose it doesn't lose prime after sitting. Good Luck
