3020 JD Cummins conv...need a belt driven Hydro pump.

Ok im working on putting a 89 cummins in a 68 JD 3020 narrow front. The tractor is going to be used for Tug pulling and some speed pullin. Due to the added length of the cummins im going to have to get rid of the factory hydraulic pump. Is there any high output belt driven pumps or maybe a hydraulic pump off a industrial motor that will bolt in place of the power steering pump? All it is going to have to run is the steering and the brakes. Any input would be great!

I looked at a Muncie belt driven pump for the 6.7 in the Sterling, but you are limited to 10 HP vs the 35 for the PTO mounted units.. Muncie is good about returning emails here is there link:

Josh,
I don't know how familar you are with John Deere hydraulic systems, what you want to do is certainly doable with a little work.
The stock system is a radial piston pump, closed center system, constant pressure, variable volume. The front pump recieves pressurized oil from the trans pump which also provides trans lubrication and runs through the oil cooler circuit.
I'm not sure whats involved, but you'll probably have some priority valves to change and a few other things to modify.

What about a power steering pump off a commercial truck application?

The more i think about it the more i want to use something timing case mounted. I was aware of its system but im not sure what pressure i need or how much flow i need. Like i said the tractors going to be stripped and will hopefully weigh below the 5500lb mark. I got to looking at the tractor and it has four lines coming out of the pump two are 8an in size and the other two are 4an in size. One is the feed line, and the other is a return line which runs through the cooler.

I have a CPL # of a 6bta in a Ford F700. It had a timing case mounted hydro pump that had a 6an pressure side with a 8an return side.

I'm just gonna have to do some more digging.

Thanks,
Josh

I'd have to look it up to be sure, but I think those pumps are supposed to run 2200 psi. I also believe there were 2 different pumps, 40 cm3 and 50 cm3 displacement pumps.
