3/4 ton vs 1 ton advice...What to get...
hey man, one ton is the way to go. we started off w/ a 91 crew cab chevy 1 ton, srw. we pull backhoes, horses and cows. w our 30' gooseneck and backhoe, put us right at 20000 w/ trailer and backhoe (ford hoe). we had a blow out one day w/ the srw, it wasnt pretty. dually the way to go. cost more w/ tires, but the stability, especially when the wind gets blowin, makes a night and day difference. the 3/4 ton might be faster, but w/ just a few mods, the 1ton will be just as fast. and besides, a lifted dually, even just slightly looks mean. the dually is the way to go. if you go w/ the 3/4 ton, youll allways be wanting more truck. im talking w/ a friend of mine, jim beam sorry for the rambling.

no offense to you brother, but i had a sorry, (f250) 7.3L. i pulled about 3-5 times a week around 20k-30k. i had some extra overload springs put on it, and she barely squatted, but she came w/ 3.73's. didnt want to spend the extra money to change them to 4.10's. my dads dually had 4.10's and she'd beat me off the line every time till about 55 or 60 then i could hang with him. i was 21 at the time. i have a dually now, and dont pull squat, but when i move back to tx, itll come in handy. where im from in tx, we dont have many hills, so you can do 65-75 pulling heavy loads pretty safely. i allways loved seeing peoples reactions when theyd see me passing them w/ 20k+ of weight on the interstate doing 65 or 70 (speed limit in tx is 70 on most highways where im from) and they cant believe it. im a cummins guy, but i did like the 7.3L. it wasnt bad in my opinion, especally with the straight 4" pipe w/ 6" tip. she really sang pretty good. anyhoo.
