1 Ton vs. 3/4 ton

OK, I order my "new" new truck on Monday. There's about a $500 difference between the 1 ton and the 3/4 ton, what's the way to go? I should mention that I don't need a 1 ton, but then again I don't "need" a Cummins HO diesel, just don't tell the wife . I have heard, not from my dealer, that the 48RE is only orderable right now only the 1 ton. Is that bogus info? Does anyone know if you can get the 1 ton without the roof marker lights? Once again I am deferring to you experts.

From this ex spurt, you cannot get a one ton without the roof clearance lights. NO tailgate lights, thank goodness though!

Hunter

I don't know about other states, but Michigan law requires clearance lights on one ton and heavier (bigger) trucks. I think that MI also requires the tailgate lights.

In California the clearance lights are required due to the width of the dualie, all vehicles over 80 inches wide must have clearance lights. Single rear wheels width is 79.9 inches, dualie is 96 inches wide.

You can order the 48re in 2500 and 3500 right now in Canada...DC even has changed up some of our orders and changed the 47re to the 48re....tells me the 47 is on its way out.

Thanks for the info. I'm definitely glad I changed my mind on the truck . I don't want a tranny that they've discontinued just as I buy it.

Re:1 Ton vs. 3/4 ton

LOL..yeah, but there is stories out there that would blow your mind. We leased a 99 3500 2wd to a guy that pulls trailers for manufactures all over north america. At 551000 kms, he had to
rebild his tranny(47re). We also have another that had weird shifting problems at 60000kms, we decided to flush it and try synthetic in it. Truck now has 225000+ on it and all is well. I just took delivery of my own 47re last month..it'll do everything I need it to, but if the 48 was available then, I def would have gotten it.....cya.........ps the trailer puller guy is on his second dually from us and currentyly has about 240000kms without any probs yet(another 47re)

Re:1 Ton vs. 3/4 ton

Multiply Kilometers by 0.6 to get approximate miles. Example 500,000KM x 0.6 = 300,000miles. 240,000KM x 0.6 = 144,000miles

When traveling and speed limit sign reads 100 KM/hr, use the same 0.6 multiplier to convert, 100 x 0.6 = 60mph, 90 x 0.6 = 54 mph., etc. The more exact multiplier is 0.62 but the 0.6 value is easier to use and close enough.

Yeah, it's kind of the same relationship as the Canadian dollar to the US dollar >.

I don't think you read it right Seirra, he is asking for "clear" lences to replace the factory ambor ones. All I got to say is, isn't that illegal, I know it is here, and why would you want to?
