I started off in 1st & was going thru the gears & it went right to REVERSE at 40mph!!! The rear wheels locked instantly, but I pulled it out of reverse in about a second! I honestly thought that there would be pieces of tranny all over the street, but everything seemed fine. I had a trans shop pull the pan... found some clutch fibres, adjusted the bands & off I went.
Another time, when I was 17, me & 5 high school buddies were out "crop dusting" on a Friday night in my dad's 67' Plymouth Fury 318 w/ torqueflite auto & we were trying to "light-em up" on a slick paved back road. With 6 people in the car, it refused to do a brake stand, so "my buddy" sitting beside me in the bench seat thru it in reverse... stomped on my right foot... & dropped it into Drive at maximum speed in Reverse! She sure lite-up the rear tire though & smoke-it for a 100' or so.
Yeah... I know what you're think'... I was the guy all my friends parents warned them about, but we sure had fun growing up in the country!

I believe Chevy and Ford got rid of the manual options on trucks after the 2006 because there sales of manuals account for less than 1% of trucks. Dodge sales on the other hand are 50/50 and thats why they won't get rid of it, atleast not now. Whether thats because people think they make bad automatics, because they will primarily be towing with their vehicle, or they just like a manual is unbeknownst to me. If their smart they won't get rid of it unless it does fall to a percentage close to ford and chevy's.
I would be willing to bet that Dodge sales are definitely NOT 50% manual tranny's.
Not even close.

I suspect that among HD trucks with CTDs, Dodge manual tranny sales are MAYBE 20%, tops.
But, as a percentage of all Dodge Rams, I suspect the number of manual trans trucks to be <5%.
