FleetGuard filter issues / ?

Like a lot of what goes on here , looking at what the options / upgrades / mods and how to just make better .
After being around & seeing enough sales / promotion stuff , have about 2 terms now , just plain Fleetguard , Strataport and MicroGlass/Fiber .
I've asked at my local Cummins dealer , and they look at me like the proverbial , deer in the headlights , they haven't got a clue , the only thing they can do is what the computer tells them .
What I have in mind is trying to stay away from paper based filter media [ the regular FleetGuard ] as far as I can tell .
Preferring the Glass filter media , my reasoning is that the glass is not going to expand / plug in reaction to water , at least that's my theory .
With that info , bring part numbers with and just ask for what I want and not try to educate the counter guy .

From what I've read Donaldson has an oil filter that fits our trucks with their own propiatary synthetic media that they claim is the best.
Might be worth a try.

Bill I forgot to mention , this was for a fuel filter .
Generally There is number of brands I use , sometimes which one I use is a mater of circumstance , in this case I was at Cummins to get some parts for an Onan generator , so what part of town I'm in , I do believe Donaldson is base out of Bloomington as suburb of Minneapolis , MN. , then there is Amsoil , supposedly Amsoil's filters are made by Donaldson , in fact for some years now , like many other products , there are only a few manufactures of the many brands , and I have heard that one manufacture will have a run going , get on order for a bunch of something else , to fill the order , one manufacture will go to another to run the other variety , almost like they are all the same company with different plants and rotate who's making what , then its a guessing game on who is working with who or not and what each is making , albeit with the spec.s of what ever brand is which .
Just another rumor I heard .
Also other brands I will use [ quality ] Wix = Napa Gold .
Batteries being in the same game , 2-3 manufactures & hundreds of brands .
I have been in a huge alt. , starter rebuilder /manufacture , and seen , at the end of a assembly line , mutable pipes making up rakes of rolls of different brand stickers .
And on and on , food products ect.
Which brings back to the original point , finding out enough about a product to find the best product for the best price , regardless of package .

When it comes to fuel filters for 2003 and newer trucks there are only 3 that meet Cummins Spec and they are the Dodge, Fleetguard Stratapore and Baldwin. The best of the 3 is the Baldwin PF 7977 as its a 5 micron rating where the Fleetguard is a 7 micron rating. If you buy a Dodge filter make sure its the newer 7 micron and not the older 10 micron that is still used on older engines. For older trucks just make sure the filter you buy is the equal to a Fleetguard Stratapore and has the smallest micron rating you can get. Also the filter needs to be a water separator type fuel filter as not all filters made can remove water.
