Are the prices going down cause they are paying almost no wages in Mexico,NO. Sure, a man spends 25 years on the assembly line and gets to a good wage. Coarse his knees are shot from working on concrete and his back is gone but that doesn't matter. Ask what the people shuffling papers in the offices are making?
When that man loses his 38 dollar a hour job the 19 dollar a hour job will probably go by-by soon after. You ought to live in a small farming community and really see how slim money can be. There are no 19 dollar jobs only 8 to 10 dollar jobs.
I work only union jobs even though I am self employed. You are expected to be a professional at your job and give a good days work. Sure I have to drive up to 200 miles a day some to work but that's part of it.
Sorry for the rant but I've spent that 30 years to work up to the pay scale I have and no one complains about it cause I know how to do my job. Oh, and I don't get payed for setting on the work I do. Thanks
Sure, they signed the papers agreeing to the terms. They did not however agree to keep all of their work local and subsequently drive themselves into the ground. Everyone is so quick to complain about prices on certain things today. Well, if you want a good price your not going to find an American made product. Want an American made product? Say goodbye to your good prices...

Sure, there are some made in the US and some made in Mexico. The two balance each other out to bring the prices to what they are.

I don't agree with a man not producing to earn his wage. I work the construction trade and as I said ussually only work union jobs. Most of the people I work around work for small companies and know they have to produce to keep there jobs so someone else doesn't take them.
That is one thing I have against the unions is defending a guy that is not very good help and ruining the reputation of the good help with one or two people. I have carried a union card for over twenty years but I still don't agree with everything they do, but I get all of my work by myself and don't depend on anyone helping me.
I just hate to see you put down unions in general when they have helped alot of good people make a fair living. Thanks

This thread has headed a direction that probably makes it more appropriate for the All-politics.net forum.

Believe me, I have plenty to say on this-- just not here

i was talking to my salesman buddy about the 4500-5500 series trucks and yadda yadda, he was telling me they have been running and selling them in Mexico for a few years now, and it drives him nuts cause he's in fleet sales and company owners come back from mexico on a holiday, see these trucks everywhere , then come to the dealer to order a dozen or so , and he has to point to the Furd dealer across the street, cause he couldn't get them .

Back on track....
Can the 52g factory tank be retrofitted into the '06?

I'd love no not have to get fuel for >3 weeks! I know there are aftermarket tanks, like Titan and Transfer Flow...Just looking for a cheaper alternative.

I highly doubt it since the entire frame of the cab + chassis is different. That's just my opinion though, maybe Luke will know.

The truck that was being sold in Mexico was the Ram 4000. Not really anything like the 4500/5500 that is being introduced right now. Shares the cab, but that is about it. The 4000's used a box tube frame like the pick-ups and only had 16" rims, a lot lighter truck in general.

Possibly could be done with a lot of retrofitting. It'd be a hack job though. Definetly not a bolt on mod. You'd have to remove the spare tire and put it somewhere else to.

Weren't small (1.5-2 ton) Dodge trucks built and sold in Mexico at one time? Maybe using a 2nd gen bodystyle? It seems like someone posted a website with pictures here at one time.

Yep, they were using moddified 2nd gen bodies that were mounted on chassis that were basically the old D500, D600, D700 series from the 70's.

I see. Speaking of those 70's Dodge trucks, I would love to get my hands on one and put a grain box on it for an extra hauler around the place!

What are you talking about? We have a 4.6% unemployment rate ... that is about as "full employment" as it gets.

What was the last "American Made" item you bought? It's pretty **** hard to find anything made here manufacturing wise
