2008 Dodge 4500 & 5500

It doesn't look like the new bigger Dodge ram is much bigger than the 3500. I guess DC decided to throw a bigger suspension under it and call it a medium duty. Come on DC, 305 horse power? You can do better than that.

Dodge introduces the 4500 and 5500

I like this part:

Legendary Cummins Turbo Diesel in 6.7–liter displacement (610 lb.–ft. of torque)
Is the 6.7 old enough to be a legend yet?

These are extremely heavy duty trucks...I think 305/610 is more than plenty to do what they have to do. They're not made to be racers. Most will be driven by hired employees and I sure most companys don't want inexperienced drivers tearing up drivelines...they want mpg. On occasion I gross in the neighboerhood of 34k and my little 610 has no problem maintaining speed limit.

It is A LOT HEAVIER than a 3500. Heavier suspension, brakes, axles, and 19.5" wheels and tires. We don't need more power, just more iron in the truck, and that is what they did. Everybody is caught up on having 400-500hp, but it is not necessary. This truck right here had a whopping 160hp and that is right at 32,000lbs gross combined weight, and it got me every where I needed to go god rest her sole................................

Its not like you can get the GM 4500 with the LMM 350/660 DM... Last ones I saw at the dealer were still 310/520...

The 6.7 is what the bigger trucks have (Ford 650, Frieghtliner, etc), so good enough for a 4500 DC IMHO..

Actually , if you break it down :

Legendary Cummins Turbo Diesel in 6.7–liter displacement (610 lb.–ft. of torque)
It makes reference to "Cummins Turbo Diesel" being Legendary, and Then Makes us aware that it is now a 6.7- liter displacement

And FWIW , the 6.7 has been around a long time already , it has been in production and sold in various machinery (mostly agricultural tractors) since 2002 or earlier. I have never heard of any major failures yet.
