1984 ford F250 diesel
Hey guys,
Long story (very) short,
My son has found a 1984 Ford diesel that he can afford (Read that as meaning very cheap).
I do not want my son to end up with something in which he/I will have to continuously pour money.
The speedometer/odometer has been non-functioning for a long while and the current owner things there is around 300k on the clock.
It has an after-market Banks Turbo installed.
It has some known issues such as a leaking power steering pump and something is wrong with the brake system (Likely will need a new master cylinder or boost - maybe both).
I turn to you guys for advice regarding what we should look at on such a truck.
I have little to know familiarity with the IDI Ford diesels.
Thanks to all in advance.

IIRC the only thing that I remember of them were the possibility of block issues from cavitation, and they didn't have a bunch of power.
Past that parts were cheap and they ran for a long time.
They are undoubtedly the cheapest way to get into diesel without having something that you worry about breaking all the time.
