Gas Taxes

We pay the highest per gallon fuel tax in the country here in Washington State. It has nothing to do with President Bush, or even EDIT Gregoire. It's all about the liberal tax and spend legislature. We had a chance to vote down the proposed 10 cent a gallon tax last November, but voters chose to support it. It goes into effect this year. I think the first step in the tax raise is 3 cents. If you don't vote , don't *****. You had your chance to vote it down. Western Washington has been shown to be nearly as liberal as San Francisco. And that, my friends, is liberal

I've seen it for $2.55.9 in Tacoma yesterday at Puyallup & Portland Aves. Cheapest around...even cheaper than the Flying J last I looked. I don't think the Gov has that much of a say in oil priced as a commodity. If she was really concerned about (cutting) the high price of gas/diesel she could start knocking off some of the state's share of the gas tax but that would NEVER happen as long as a liberal Dem runs the show. Come to think about it, it wouldn't happen if a Republican was running the show either. Normally, I don't have a problem with big business making a profit. But when it's RECORD profits for this long, the market is being manipulated. Until they actually arrest and throw a couple of these oil execs in the pokey where they belong (which a Dem or a Repub would not do next to ever) the price will be taken out of not only our wallets but our collective hides as well. Here's a prime example of why we shouldn't keep electing the ******** that enslave us...but until banks fail and there's again breadlines I predict that we'll keep electing these bandits and scoundrels and keep measuring their effectiveness by how much "pork" they bring home to the voters. We have the government we deserve and until more of us wake up and vote differently, that's the way it'll stay. Chuck

True, true. But did you know that if the gas tax rollback would have passed the price and taxes for diesel would NOT have changed one bit??? It had something to do with a taxpayer initiative having more than 1 subject. I'm NOT kidding here. The gas tax for diesel would have been UNEFFECTED by the voters passing that measure. You, as a diesel owner/driver, would be paying the increase ALONE. I don't know why they couldn't use the word FUEL as it applies to motor vehicles instead of the word gasoline. But you know how they like to keep things complicated and then pretend they're the only ones that can fix the problem, that the taxpayers don't know what they're doing when they vote down transportation tax increases via the intiative process.....blah, blah, blah. Personally, I'm tired of the whole bunch and if I could press some kind of button to do em all in & replace em all, I'd BE PUSHING!!!

Besides comparing a city to half a state you are WRONG. Now if you would have said, the major metropolitan areas of western Washington are as liberal as San Francisco, then you'd be much closer to the truth. The rural areas are as conservative here in Washington state as they are anywhere in the country...it's those left leaning city-slickers (that're a majority here) that have gummed up the works....
