What's going on in WA state?

A quick look at diesel prices at flyingj.com shows prices ranging from $2.339 to $2.959 with most prices in the $2.409 to $2.609 range.

Here in WA state it is $2.959 with some stations that I have seen at an outrageous $2.999.

Why is it 30 to 40 cents a gallon higher in WA state? We are even 20 to 30 cents a gallon higher than CA.

Yeah, but Seattle will just keep finding those mail in ballots until the next election. Stay away from the graveyards too cause you could get run over by all those people on their way to vote.......again.

They had a very rigorous examination of that election.

You just don't like the results. Which is fair enough.

But to continue calling it cheating after all the oversite/examination that proved it fair is really not helping anything.

Just keeps the country divided.

It's because of the low rates you pay for registration.
I lived in WA before the voters passed the law to lower registration fees and was paying over $1000 per year on a newer rig. After the new law it went to a straight $15. Don't know what it is now.
They had to make up for the lost funds elsewhere.

Doesn't the problem go a little higher than that...Mr. 29% approval rating himself...Mr. Texas oil man? As screwed up as WA is, can't blame this one on the Governer.

$15.00.... humm.... If I recall correctly Rick Eyman pushed to get the voters to pass the $30.00 car tabs, but by the time you were done paying those hidden fee's the state stuck us with it was'nt $30.00 anymore. Also, the fee's for my ATV's and dirt bikes all went up last year from $8.00 to $21.75 without any fair warning from the state. I also heard briefly on the news two days ago that the state had come out in the black for last years budget by something in the amount of 1 billion or so dollars and that all the blood suckers in Olympia are licking their chops on what to waste it on. And guess who was 1st in line? Tree huggers and animal activist. Oh yeah by the way gas at the cheataco (texaco) down the street from me has diesel at $3.00.

Now it sounds like we are going to start paying tonnage on our trucks. Next thing they will make us put our GVW on the side of our truck like they used to do.

Mr. 29% Approval Ratings

As low as Pres.Bush's ratings are, even he can't control the oil industry. What better way to get his ratings up then to decrease the cost of energy. The oil industry just has its own way with us regardless. Good show recently on 60 minutes on gasification of proven coal reserves in Montana. The end product being a highly refined diesel that even Leslie Stall liked. Only by-product was CO2 that our beloved oil industry would purchase and pump back into the ground to force more oil to the surface. Pit mines once depleted of coal would be refilled and restored with natural vegetation and topography(or so they say) We've gotta find some way to lessen our dependence on foreign energy sources. Cheapest diesel I've seen here in San Diego is $2.79

This wasn't started to create a political issue. It was a legitimate question of why does WA state have the highest fuel costs in the nation. We are closest to Alaska so if any oil is sent our way we shouldn't need to pay additional shipping costs. Along with other things I have found fuel in some of the out of way places to be cheaper than high volume locations. An example the first weekend of Feb I paid $2.469 at a small station in Ellensburg, WA and the Flying J a half mile up the road was in the area of $2.70 to $2.80

As for the registration costs I haven't paid the $30 tab fee yet. When I bought my truck it was a little over $100, OK new vehicle registration and all. The next year it dropped to a measley $87 now I am to get hit with a tonnage fee.

I agree that the state is making up for the lost revenue of vehicle registration fees somewhere but it isn't at the pump. Currently we have either the second highest or the highest fuel taxes in the country and they are going higher on July 1 for the next 2 to 4 years. It is just we see higher prices than about 98% of the country and it isn't all tax.

Here's a hint:
Jack, Lary, and the Admins as well as many many other members are tiring of any thread on any subject being turned into a political free-for-all.
This will stop.

Get it back on subject.

Go for farm exempt and just buy trip tickets for your truck travel. It over-rides the tonnage/cdl problem too. The guy at the DMV just explained it all to me last week.
