GAS PRICES!


THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they w ill continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May!

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action.
The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas .

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.49 for regular unleaded in my town, Seattle.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit
someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If
they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literal ly millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at lea st ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers .
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION
PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!

(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am . so trust me on this one.

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

Ya know that would be great but here in WV 90% of our gasoline...and diesel, comes from the refinery in Ashland KY. They get it to the large distributors and they sell it to the local distributors. Guess what?? All of the gas whether it be Exxon, Chevron, or whatever is the same gas. When a tanker pulls up to fill they put an additive pack in the load to make it Chevron, Exxon or whatever. The base gasoline is the same. The diesel fuel is the same as well. What good will boycotting Exxon/Mobile do if you are still buying their gas under a different brand?? It will only hurt the local station who is probably privately owned by one of your friends! We do need to find a better way to deal with the problem. WV produces a lot of crude oil and we can't sell it right now because the bulk tanks at the refineries are full. We need to allow or mandate new refineries to be built. The new refineries can produce more gas from a given amount of crude oil but the government won't allow them to be built to replace the old ones that have been around forever!!!!

 

I agree Daking. This is about the only thing that will work. It really doesn't make a difference that the fuel all comes from the same storage tank. The fuel still belongs to the oil company once it gets to their tanks (if Shell had 100k gallons of fuel transfered to the storage facility and BP had 100k stored in the same tank then the facility knows what to send where). Boycotting the other stations would work if you can just get the people to do it (it would create long lines and supply problems for a few days till the other stations got the message). Citgo has to stay out of the equation since I wouldn't buy from them at any price.

 

Actually Car companys done this a while back when fuel injection came into play because they didn't refine gas like they do now and it ruined the fuel injectors. well to fix that they put that in the owners manual that if you buy fuel from these companys then it voided the warrenty so that forced gas companies to refine gas more. so if we could get enough people to do it it would work great but most people won't do it just through emails. but if we could force people to do it through car companies or something different then maybe we could have an impact.

 

This will do absolutely nothing.
If you want to organize something that will work organize months of reduced usage.
Don't move your purchase from one supplier to another but reduce it all together.
Drop our total usage by 20% and watch the prices fall.
If we consumers continue to use X-barrels per day without an increase in production we'll see no real relief in fuel prices.
Supply and demand is the biggest factor at play here.

 

Nope that wont work either all they do is ship the excess oversea's to china and india or any other nation that is eager to get their hands on any spare capacity of fuel. Just read yesterday that China imported 25% more fuel this past march than they did in March 07. So what we reduce just get's eatin up by other thirsty countries. And you dont think the oil compaines know this. The only way things will change is when investment money stop being poured into the commodities market. Speculation,speculation,speculation....

 

Speculation is killing us.
Same for the housing market.

 

This is another post that shows the apathy of the public and site members in particular. Very few have what it takes to make anything work to reduce prices. Within the seeds of an idea is its very destruction.

I feel that if you take the largest oil company in your geographic area and refuse to buy fuel from them for 1 month - and do this regardless of what price they put on their pumps you can have an impact on prices. You can buy fuel from anyone elce just not them. If you only have 1 supplier you can buy from them but if you have any other other choise us it.

That's the proposal now here's why it will not work. Number 1 people will not inconvience themselves and drive 1 mile out of their way to make this work. Even if they did once that oil company drops the price they will rush back to take advantage of the new price.

So it's business as usual BIG oil rules.

This is another one of those FALSE emails everyone forwards back and forth to each other. Go to Snopes, this one has been around for many years and it is absolutely pointless.

 

All the gass in My county is delivered by 2 different co. It dosen't matter which station you go to it came from one of those 2 companys and they both are locally owned.

I promise not to buy from Exxon Mobil...EVER!!!
Of course this is easy for me since their prices are always higher than the other stations around them.
I never buy from them anyway.
It won't do no good but there you are!!

 

Why not just get people to not drive at all on weekends unless you have to work or its and emergency. Now if all people stopped all unnecessary driving every weekend for a several months it sure would send a message to the Government and oil companies.

That is the closet thing to real action.
Less fuel usage is the only possible way to bring prices down.
Plus you'll save money from lowered consumption.

 

I guess I have joined in by default, since I only get my fuel from Costco,Love's or Flyin J...
