Waste oil and acetone better MPG's

I have been running about two quarts of waste oil 6-7 ounces of acetone and Howes fuel additive and have been getting 1-2 MPG's per gallon more. Anyone have any bad results doing this. Just curious people look at me like i am half crazy when i pull up and start dumping this stuff in the tank. The truck also seems to have more power to. Think i could put more waste oil in with out and bad results.

are you adding that half gallon + concoction to he total gallons burned ? otherwise good deal if it works for you. what are you paying for half a quart of pure acetone ?

I've heard about the acetone in gas engines. Then I also heard that it's bull. So I don't know.

Acetone is not good for rubber hoses and seals. Use very little per dose.

I would say your going to eat any rubber fuel lines on the truck, and IIRC acetone is not very high on the lubricity scale..

Mythbusters busted acetone as an improvement for gas engines, IIRC they actually got worse mileage.

Miliage Improvement

That seems like a lot but I have done that well a couple of times by using Lucas fuel additive, and it has a definite improvement on the smoke on take-off . Lucas is now close to $30/gal. so I am not so sure of the trade off dollars spent for improved miliage . I use additive on every tank and still had to do a pump reseal at only 590k miles. I beleive that was caused by the low sulpher fuel causing the seals to leak. I know one guy who soaked a seal kit in pure acetone for a full 6 months with no shrinking or swelling so he is using it mixed into his fuel all the time. R C

I haven't tried it in a diesel, but I have a 4 cly that I have been running Acetone in for 2 years and it definetly increases mileage. No rubber hose or seal issue, 205,000 miles and going strong. Typically run 2 oz per 10 gal and typically experience 3 to 5 more MPG than running only fuel. Every tank is Super unleaded with Acetone. So mythbusters can say what they want, but I believe otherwise.

I run 75% filtered waste oil, 10% K1,10% ulsd, and 3 oz. acetone to 10gal. of blend, shake it up pour it in the tank, use it in a 97 GMC 6.5T, and in my daily run around Isuzu car,40mpg,no conversions, added a fuel heater on the Isuzu for the winter, nothing on the 6.5T, but i dont drive the fuel hog every day, only gets about 20mpg, im retired on fixed income. Big Oil told Mythbusters what to say about Acetone.

I've been running 1oz Acetone per 10gallons of fuel plus 1oz of TCW-3 rated 2 cycle engine oil per gallon of fuel in my 3rd gen for over 70K miles, I put on about 13-15K miles a month (I deliver camper trailers for a transport company) I have seen an overall average of 2.5 mpg increase. That's a lot of $$ saved putting on as many miles as I do.

BTW, IIRC, Mythbusters used a 100:1 ratio of Acetone, WAY too much, it is true too much and you will lose mileage. My mix is 1280:1

What's your fuel mileage?

Average loaded mpg before 2 cycle + Acetone was 8-10mpg (depending on wind, terrain, etc.) after has been 10.5-13mpg, average speed 62mph

Average empty mpg before 2 cycle + Acetone was 17.5-19mpg, after 19.5-21.5mpg, average speed empty 70mph

These numbers do vary like I said, depending on weather, highway condition, whether or not I am driving in the mountains, etc.

The point is I have real world results to satisfy me, Mythbusters dissappointed me by not putting much effort into testing several different ratios.
