Waste Cooking Oil Shelf Life
What is the shelf life on used cooking oil? It has been stored out of the sun in a sealed container. Some of it is a year old. Is it still worth keeping or using? I had planned on making bio from it, but never got there.
Thanks,
Craig

It'll probably be pretty acidic and need a bit more base than fresh stuff; the water and food debris settles out and the food decays anaerobically. Also, make sure that you process it only if it's completely dry- I seem to have more moisture trouble with old oil generating soaps than fresh oil. Try making a small batch in an old blender to see how it turns out before investing all the time and resources in a full batch.
Good luck!

Yeah, my ultimate goal is to try and sell the stuff. I collected ~300 gallons, in a pretty short time period, and was going to blend it all. Now, I just want to see if anybody wants the stuff. I was hoping to trade for some already ready made bio.

Once upon a time, I used to trade 1 gal of finished bio for 5 gal of clean oil. I since found that it's easier and more profitable to sell my surplus clean, dry oil to WVO users (mostly Mercedes smokers) for $1 /gal. Put it on craigslist.
