Huh, so Ford is getting away from the High Pressure Oil Rail then? Get ready boys! We are about to finally see some Fast Fords on the road!

I agree with that the hype is going to be more bark than bite. I would make a BIG assumption that most of this "Information" being translated is coming from the internet......The internet is good....but TONS of misinformation out there.....this thing gives idiots a big voice! Rumors start and run like wild fire on here.....SO what im saying is, take all this in stride....add a pinch of salt to anything you read. (NOT your fuel!)

Been about 50K and 2.5 years on my 2nd VP with no issues. No additives on a consistent basis. Did FASS and VP at the same time.

108k, one LP replacement, original VP (knock on wood). I put 20 servings of Stanadyne PF in it at from about 30k to 50k, somewhere along in there. Original LP went at 45k. I'm not sweating ULSD ... yet anyway. 1 LP, 1 set of front brake pads, 1 set of tires, one brake light, oil & filter changes, that's all I've done. The truck's been outstanding & cheap ... so far. Still looks good and feels new-ish to me.

I got a hold of some ULSD on a tank and the mileage got worse. Went back to LSD and it went back up. Just my experience with it.

As far as vp's go, I've run motor oil, 2 stroke oil, diesel clean, lucas, synergen, STP, you name it I've run it. None consistently. My wire has been tapped and untapped more than a college keg, it's been run tapped with a comp set on kill with 0 pressure. I think these pumps are stronger than people give them credit for. I've got 107k on mine and if it dies tomorrow I'll be mad but I won't feel bad cause I've put this pump through it's paces and based on what I've read and heard and what not I've gotten my use out of it. Remember that a forum is a place where people come to post their problems, not the good things and that it only represents a vary tiny fraction of everyone out there. Is the VP44 a perfect pump? Not even close. But it's done alright for me and a bunch of other's so it can't be all that bad. I also think that good, consistant fuel pressure is a key. Mine's been getting 11 at WOT and 15 at idle for the last 2 1/2 years.

There won't be lubrity issues with ULSD. Back about two years ago, the ASTM passed a lubricty spec for all diesel. All on-road diesels now get additives at distribution terminals to meet this spec. ULSD with the additives will have better lubricity than diesel from a few years ago.
