Ultra Low sulphur
I read last year that on Jan 1 07 every station would only sell ULS #2, is this true? I know it eats lines and seals, and can loosen deposits, I don't think my truck has had to much fuel since Jan, it hadn't been registered for 2 years. Before I fill up (still got 1/4 tank from the last guy) Should I stock up on hose and filters? Are cetane boosters/ diesel supplements a good idea? This stuffs not going to eat my pumps is it?
I'm not sure if it's going to eat your lines or not but I recently spoke to a cummins employee in the know and he said that for the uls fuel to add a conditioner to counter the harsh effects of the fuel.
IIRC here in Canada we've upgraded the diesel to a european standard and the US has adopted the previous Canadian standard.
I have found on previous trips to the states that I got far better fuel economy on Canadian grade fuel than on the old US grade with less smoke and engine soot.
I was very happy to hear that tha US had improved the quality of their fuels as my Rabbit was quite the smoke machine on a trip to Moab
By the way, I've never had a problem on the car with fuel lines getting eaten and both vw and my cummins pumps are both ve.

Some Power service or Howes never hurt anything. If your truck has been sitting a while its probally cheap insurance to dump in some silver bottle Power service and fresh diesel. I use the white bottle PS here once it starts getting cold. Over the summer I almost never add anything other than diesel because I always forget. I also am a seafoam user as well on everything mainly on gas stuff but I will dump a half left over can in the rabbit or truck once and a while. Also pick yourself up a spare filter or 2 and after you run a few tanks thru it change or have it on hand ready to change. Most carry a spare filter in the truck.
I would not worry about hoses with ULSD. some people have reported leaky IP seals with the USLD. I have run plenty of the new stuff thru mine and had no leaks yet. Its hit or miss. BIOdiesel is the stuff that eats hoses and seals worse than ULSD I believe. I have run B20 as well with no troubles.
Your fuel lines shouldnt be effected. I had injector line seals and lift pump go out on mine not long after the change over...coincidence? I dont think so but I could be wrong.
Id run some kind of fuel treatment.
Powerservice to clean up some of that old fuel in the system.
If you wanna go cheap, run TCW-3 2-stroke at 1oz per gallon and youll be set.
