ULSD gone bad?
Well my truck sat allot after deer season and I started driving it when the deep snow hit last week. The truck was way down on power and rough idle. After running the tank down, filled up and it was much better, but not 100%. After the second tank, back to normal. I guess this ULSD can't sit long before having problems. I bought some fuel additive from Napa, will see if it helps.

Could be the fuel is full of water from condensation in your tank.
Sometimes the water gets mixed so thoroughly with fuel that it doesn't settle at the bottom of the tank or filter.

If you know in advance that your tank [ truck or storage ] is going to sit for almost any length of time , keep full , the condensation that Bill mentioned is a bigger issue with some fuels [ ULSD & bio ] from what I remember are good at absorbing condensation , that happens in airspace of tanks .
Then what happens , as I remember is , this where you get the algae to start growing in diesel , because of the presents of water .

Put a bottle of HEAT in the tank and then put in some gas....yes gas. Cut the gas about 1 gallon per 100 gal of diesel. The gas is an excellent antigel treatment. The Heat and gas will stabalize the fuel. Actually on a p/u that has a pre fuel heater you may want to cut 1/2 gallon per 100 gal of diesel. I stopped uying antigel and fuel additives for my semi truck this winter because mine had enough howes antigel in it to treat 260 gallons to 20 below 0 and my truck still froze up. I got the fuel ungelled then added gas. Trucks were actually having the fuel gel going down the road when the temps were 30-40 below 0 here a few weeks back and I never had a problem one. Just FYI.
