Talk about nervous

After reading all the threads about used oil being run through the motor in the fuel system, I finally got the nerve to do it. I waited till I was almost out of fuel the put in a gallon of strained oil from my last change and then fueled up. I then ran about 200 miles before I returned home. The motor seemed to run the same only a little quieter and it seemed to get about 1 more mile to the gallon than before on the trip meter. I will check when I re-fuel and calculate it properly. My trip meter is about one mile per gallon off from manuel calculations. I dont think it will become an all the time thing but its a better way to dispose of my own used oils.

I don't think it's as big of a deal as some people are making it out to be. I have been running 2.5 - 3 gallons per fill up for about 2K miles now, several others here do also.

Atf+4?

I've been thinking about disposing of my used ATF+4 from my first tranny service in this manner. Anybody tried it?

Ahhhh, ATF fliud contains some stuff that I wouldn't want to burn.

I think there are some fancy friction modifiers in there.

Does this work for synthetic, or only dino oil?

I know a guy that used ATF in his Cummins. No bad side effects. He used it for a couple of tanks. Not sure why he quit other than he didn't have any more. I would definitely filter it well.

ATF is designed not to burn and will leave damaging ash deposits in your engine.
A couple of tanks is hardly enough to determine if there are harmful effects with anything you dump in your tank.
My bet is you could even dump in coal dust for a few tanks before you ran into trouble.
