Starting early

Sense I retired I don't put very many miles on either of my trucks. So I don't need to get caught again by jelled fuel again. Topped off my 1st gen, about 7 gallons with #1. Once I can run down the fuel in the 2nd gen I will top it off as well.

Yeah. we are getting close to the time of year, when I pour a good shot of Power Service white bottle into the rigs I might need to get running and into the shop during the winter. Then I let them run for a bit to mix it all up.
I have two, or is it three[?], project builds in mind for the winter and the donor trucks have 1/2 full tanks of summer fuel in them. Sure would be nice if they started and drove through the deep snow into the shop when the time comes.

Reading about preparing for the cold season makes me glad that I moved away from all that and for years have not needed to worry about prepping vehicles for the cold weather. Somehow this reminded me of an Oldsmobile Delta 88 with the diesel engine (anyone remember those?) that I used to own in Canada. It was prone to gelling in cold weather.

Do you have a source for #1 diesel? Maybe at a truck stop? Add 5 gallons of that to half a tank and it will help a lot.

Welp, we're in it. Single digits this morning. Won't see above freezing until late next spring.

So you mean to say it does not get over freezing at all for the next 6 months?
