So...WMO question?

with people adding WMO to their tanks, is this waste diesel oil, or any oil from a gasser? will a gasser work since it's different types of oils?

and also what kind of store can I get cheesecloth from?

Not really sure what you are after here. I would think any oil will work, but all of it would be illegal. Cheese cloth is available at my local grocery store.

Keep in mind -- "black fuel" and "Red fuel" can net you the same amount in fines. If you are burning something that you aren't paying road-use taxes on and get caught, it gets expensive. If you want to burn used oil (whether fryer or motor) then you should keep track of the amount in gallons, and pay the road-use tax directly to the state to stay legal. If you make your own biodiesel, same thing unless ALL miles are offroad and exempt.

Remember: Even if you pay the taxes, it is WAY cheaper than station bought fuel, so why not ante up your share of the road use money?

sorry buddy, but not true. they cannot bust you for using home made bio diesel or waste veggie oil. that have not yet taxed that.
they are only nailing folks for using OFF road diesel in ON road vehicles.

They have in Iowa City, IA after an idiot went on a radio program and the newspaper to brag about how much he was saving in his Rabbit. If you buy it for fuel at a station, it is taxed. If you make your own and you don't pay and they catch you, you are fined and audited.

you're talking about the old retired couple that was making his own for years right? so nice of them to go after someone on social security who is actually saving fuel.

I heard about this sinful problem in Iowa when it first happened almost two months ago but not a word since.
I'm thinking the state quietly backed off to avoid negative publicity.

Doesn't it vary state to state? I haven't heard of anybody around here paying taxes on the home brewed biodiesel that they use or the wvo.

Don't think any laws have been really considered, but you can be sure that they will.
In order to make it fair it will have to be based on miles travelled on public roads, not gallons. Electric cars should have to pay the same as any run on WVO or homemade BD. If the government supports alternative fuels, as they should, road taxes shouldn't apply in order to encourage widespread use.

good points bill. but they will probably use the taxes paid on your home electricity bill to cover the e car part.

in GA they only look for offroad diesel. In all my years, I have never seen a traffic stop to check diesel, but I don't know about the waypoints. They might check it there. Ga is pretty lax about the fuel here.

Nope. Some college student with an older VW, filtering WVO for use, and promoting the benefits. He was interviewed on local Public Radio, then articles in the newspaper, etc. Next thing we read, the State has brought up tax evasion charges and audited his fuel records to see how much he has been cheating the State out of.

My intent wasn't to get the subject political -- I just want people to be aware there are possible negative consequences to very good ideas. I have read about truckers getting hit with dip-checks, being fined for "black fuel" just like I have read "red fuel." Didn't Peterbuilt have an automatic oil replacing system on some rigs for awhile, that would burn used motor oil at a certain rate, replacing the amount in the crankcase with fresh oil?

Best advise is to keep a low profile.. You are speaking of "blending" not Bio diesel production. I don't think you will have any tax liability.

But that would make too much sense. I work for a company that sells propane. We run diesel powered trucks because propane for road use is taxed by the gallon even though a gallon takes you about 1/3 as far. To be fair it should be taxed on BTU value, not by volume.
