Thumbs down Purchasing Fuel

I just wanted to ask this question, has anyone noticed that while purchasing fuel at the pump with a credit card and as in my case I always say "Yes" I want a receipt that after fueling up it prints out on the fuel pump display Your receipt is waiting inside the store.

This "PMO" to the extreme!, I uses to always pay cash after a fill up because it use to be not a problem with pay first before pumping as it is these days. Most stores want you to pay before they will turn on the pump and I usually always fill mine up so I started using my credit card. Now I believe they are seeing a lot of people using the credit card at the pumps and not actually coming into the store to purchase some other item and this is a way to lure you into the store. This has not happened at every place yet I fuel at but I have noticed it a one particular truck stop I've used and believe it's just a matter of time before all start luring you into their store.

Some will say forget the receipt it's to much trouble but I always save mine it really paid off last year when my daughter got a bad tank of fuel in her 06 Honda Civic, the dealership spotted the bad fuel real quick and voided the warranty, but luckily the fuel station owner was insured and paid off with receipt in hand. Her bill at the dealership was around $600.00 to clean out the fuel system.

Sorry for the long post.

Boy, do I agree!!!!!!!!!

It aggravates me, fix the stupid printers already or put some paper in them........whatever! It kinda negates the purpose of paying at the pump.

Well my rant is that the credit card companies limit you to $50 or $75 at a time and with 30 plus gallons and $3.75 a gallon it is a PITA to have to run your card twice to fill up and it will not be long before you will need to run the card 3 times to fill up.

You may be right on it just needing paper, but I think some are doing it on purpose. Think about it "o'well since I walked in here I could use a cold drink , candy bar, etc". Smart on their part, aggravating on ours.

Interesting you see it that way, I didn't. I do raise a stink if the printer at the pump is out of order.

I usually pay with a debit card. The station has a diesel truck fuel island, they know me and the truck so they turn on the pump, I pump fuel, it don't take long with the big hose and go inside to pay with the card, the pump don't have pay at pump option. I don't leave my truck running or unlocked at any station unless wife or I is in it.

Oh yeah, most stations can set the CCard cut off limit. So it can be $50. or $75. or $150.00
