Guys please... The EPA IS making your lives better. Don't just emphasize on their emissisions regulations. If it weren't for the EPA, living standards would be a lot worse. For example, you might get toxic poisoning from drinking tap water. It's a give and take thing I guess. Frankly, they've never bothered me and I can still run my older 12v straight piped.

That's sort of debatable. I don't follow it much because it would just depress me. Anyways, lets use some fictitious numbers as an example (and probably exaggerated greatly). You've got these new trucks with these great emissions, that cost more money to produce, the new fuel is more costly, etc...You cut the emissions of them in half, however at the same time the economy of them has reduced an equal amount, so where did that just get us? Higher fuel consumption while in the end the total emissions are still the same. Not only that, but all these new things are using energy to produce them, are they not? How about the sulfur removed from fuel that gets hauled off into dumps in third world countries?

I agree that the EPA has made our lives better, but sometimes the things they do don't benefit us like everyone would like to think they do.

Again, I know those numbers are exaggerated and I'm sure in the end our overall emissions are getting reduced to some degree.

Wow! what a novel idea! Heck I`m an auto tech, maybe tomorrow I`ll "predict" that amount of labor hours payed to me for "X" job will tripple....is it REALLLY that easy??? On a serious note, eventually the bill WILL come due for all of the speculators/rape artists, just like the .com`s & real estate, I can only hope that those who are making mega $$$ off of my/your hard work & sweat will get theirs (sorry for the rant...just frustrated and P-O`ed).

unfortunately the scum that are running this scam on us, usually get out while the gettins' good, while the small time investors who got in late in the game, gets it in the not so friendly place. that's how it went down in the .com scams of the '90's- dallas mavericks owner mark cuban admits it was a big ponzi scheme, and he walked away with over $1 billion.

Oil futures speculators/scum have descended to the level of IRS auditors, used car salesman & torte lawyers.

Yep. Let a Saudi Prince get a splinter and the price goes up!

$4.599 at a different station where I KNOW it's ULTRA LOW sulfer diesel. I added 32oz of TCW3 because I knew it!

or the first time in my life I have to say that I don't think OPEC is the main reason for oil being so high priced. The problem is from scum Oil futures speculators, investment banks and companies who have taken oil off the market, put in in storage tank farms just to drive up the price.

$ 159.00 yesterday at Murphy... not sure how much more life is left in the 'ole HELOC

.... but, I am happy with the hand-calculated 18mpg the '05 is getting for in-town driving!

It's amazing what a combination of aftermarket fuel timing, bald 37" Toyos, a slipper clutch and smokeless right foot will do for mileage. (or maybe the Cummins is finally breaking in! )

Yep, pretty much. The only way some will be able to survive is with motorcycles, TDI's, and bio-diesel soon...
