how much does WVO cook down??
[QUOTE=Fullsizeyota;1781674]anyone have a guess how much useable biodiesel can be derrived from 1 gallon of used junk??
assumimg that the oil is 100% (no water, ect) a 20 gal batch of oil, add 4 gal of methoxide,= 24. subtract 3 gal of glycerin= 21 gal of "raw" bio.
as for the one gal, you schould get approx 1.1 gal of raw bio
***note*** the glycerin amount can vary some. but it's best to stay close to 3gal per 20gal of oil. too little glycerin removed cokes the injectors, and to much removed puts you at risk of making soap instead of fuel

I repectfully disagree, after washed and dried, you will get less fuel than what you started with. How much less? It varies depending upon how bad the oil is.
Usually you get around 5% less than what you started with. If you have more, then, something is still in your fuel (like methanol). Think about it, the fats/glycerine are removed. This does have to account for some loss. KD
