How to cook squirrel
#3
I lost my 15yr old Black lab a year ago and he had an ongoing battle with a grey squirrel in the back yard for years. The squirrel would purposely come down a tree to mess with him and he would of course do his best to catch the squirrel.
It got kinda funny in the final years as they both got old and grey and were moving awful slow but still with as much heart as if they were youngsters. I don't know if that old squirrel is still around, I haven't seen him just a bunch of younger ones. He may have passed on as well once his arch enemy did.
Didn't mean to hijack the thread just thought of those two when looking at your photo.

I had a hard time making him sit still long enough to get the cam...He has his own arctic dog door and it don't take him but a couple seconds and hes out and barkin up the tree.
Larry...about the same here, I try to get rid of the younger ones that try to move in durring spring and keep my alpha male an he will keep the rest back. The one at the window has Jake figured out and knows exactly how long it takes for him to get to him and how far he can jump. I don't know how I will take his passing, I had turned into a very angry person from a couple events in my past, kinda why I'm here (alaska) but getting Jake has helped me turn my life back around and helped me to smile again, so I owe him my life in more ways than one.

squirrel is also good deep fried!!
since we are sharing stories.... i had a husky who was one heck of a hunter. his house was right next to our wood pile and the darn things would taunt him by poking out of different spots then darting back in when he got close to em. he caught a couple of the slow ones and he would always bring em up to the house and wait till i came outside or got home to share em. he would do the same with rabbits and grouse too. he was a good dog and he is missed deeply.

The photo is great
Top´s story is great either, about that ongoing battle between the dog and the squirrel. Those are memories that will last forever. Sadly we had to put our dog down about 3 months ago, what a tough time it was.....and still is. There´s nothing better than having a good dog, but putting him down is such a fight. Loved him so much, but then there comes the time you realize that it is better for him to come to sleep instead of having pain every day.
As for those squirrels, I´ve been to London last year. If you ever get there make sure you go to St. James Park right next to Buckingham Palace! A lot of squirrels out there. One of them even climbed on the jeans of one of my friends. London is great.

They used to make a mess of our avocado grove. My dear Rot Shatzie would sit with me and my .22 (she hated guns) in our snipers nest and wait for them to come out to taunt her. I would rattle her collar and out they would come. One shot one kill, (most of the time) and she would tear down and make a mess of them and then head back up the hill proud as pie. I really miss that dog. Thanks for the memory sparker!
