In other Nymex trading, heating oil futures fell 0.53 cent to US$2.1852 a gallon. So we many yet see diesel under $3.00 a gallon soon. In my area diesel is $3.49 and gas is at $2.49. For a long while diesel was 65 cents more then gas but on the way down its been running $1.00 to $1.10 more then gas.

Probably because diesel fuel doesn't sell as quickly as gasoline, so as the price of crude drops, gas is going to repeatedly drop more and more every day, where with diesel it might take a week for the next shipment to come and bring down prices.

I've noticed a lot of places around here that were usually competitive bounce back and forth between who is ten cents cheaper.

Don't forget folks, there is a higher federal fuel tax on diesel than on gasoline.
