2 1/2 gallons equals out to 7.1%. I am running 9.5% without any noticable problems so far. Starts up the same even when it was 42 degrees the other morning. I think you will be just fine.

I've been running 20% for quite some time now close to 20,000 miles. I have run 25% and 30% but like the 20% best any more and I get too much smoke at idle and around town. I use a 100 gal aux transfer tank with 12v electric pump with a 10 micron filter. I add the oil to the tank then fill it up with B20. Then use the pump to circulate it for some time. Then pump right into the truck. I cut my last 2 fuel filters apart and didn't see anything that would indicate any added contamination. I get my oil from work when I service a truck right after taking the oil sample, with warm engine just run it into 5 gallon buckets with lids. We have 17 concrete mixers at work so I have access to plenty of WO.

UPDATE: I topped the tank today after going 300 miles. Most if not all was driving back and fourth to work in stop and go traffic. Netted 18 MPG with a 9.5% WO mix. Last tank before running WO was 16.5 MPG. Looks like I am picking up milage by running the WO. I sure cant complain. I am going on a 800 mile trip hauling a trailer this weekend and I will post my loaded MPG for anyone that interested.

Does the WO raise or lower the pour point of the fuel?

By pour point do you mean thickness? It would imagine that it is slightly thicker than diesel. This tank is slightly higher than 10% but it appears to flow the same at 60 degrees. I observed it flowing through the filler vent tube when I topped off last night and it looked like it moved as freely as straight fuel. It was 60 degrees at this time but I imagine that it would be thicker as it gets cooler out. You may want to mix a small sample in a jug and see what it does up north this time of the year.

Actually I mean does it gel at a higher or lower temp, but that is a good idea to test it. 50/50 in a mason jar in the freezer.

My last tank, I added around 3.5 gallons of WO and got 15.5 mpg all city. That is usually what I'm at w/ straight #2. I didn't notice any power loss or any excess smoke. What I did notice was a lower fuel pressure. I usually idle around 20 psi, and with the the mix, I was at 15. WOT I could drop it down to 8, and before the mix, 13 was my previous lowest pressure. I'm still not sure if I'm going to keep mixing, but I have to wait to get some more WO.

I dont think that I would ever try running 50%. That may be pushing it a little far. But hey if it flows that is good news. Let us know how it goes.

I was running 50/50 with only a little more smoke, otherwise no problems.

Well I made my trip this weekend. I pulled a GMC pick up 380 miles at interstate speed and also put about 60 miles empty on the truck. She averaged 13.78 MPG on 10.3%. I was having issues with the brake controller that nesescitated(sp) alot more gear shifting on the back roads and burnt alot of extra fuel. Also ran into a traffic jam from charlotte to statesville! What a trip . I ran empty on the return trip and after 380 miles I still have just over a half a tank of fuel. This was also with 10%.
I noticed that the truck is starting to smoke a little at idle when its colder out and intermittantly when you go WOT when passing someone. If the turbo is spooled not a huff of smoke. I figured pulling the mountain on the VA border would have layed a cloud but there was nothing visable. Since fuel prices are coming down and I am getting better milage I am not going to go past the 10% till the temps warm up in the morning.
67Hotrod how is your truck set up? When my gas tank got low I started burning a more oil rich mixture from oil that settled out. She was smoking pretty good at idle. The fuel tank was low enough for the "get fuel now dummy" light to come on. Still ran clean with the turbo spooled.

I have run the truck pretty low, to see if the oil was settling to the bottom, no problems. Our roads here are pretty curvey and no shortage of hills to keep it (fuel/oil) mixed up.

#2 fuel is down to $2.43 a gal, but still. Cutting my fuel cost running waste oil is worth it to me. I drive around 35k miles a year.

I am going to be looking for a source of clean oil now...

I read on here somewhere that new oil is harder on the motor as it can cause carbon buildup on the injectors. It had to do with the additives in the oil that get depleated as you run it in the crankcase. I think it may have been in a post from infidel if you want to do a search for it. I spent a good 15 hours searching the net before I made the decision to run WO in my truck. The info is definatly a little sketchy.

So how many of you premix the wo and diesel before putting it in the tank? Do most of you just pour it in the tank and it dilutes enough not requiring a pre mix?

Oh yeah if you're going to 'clean' it up before use what would you filter it with, kinda on a looowww budget so what's the micron rating so I could piece somethin together?

Thanks in advance!
