biodiesel question

I have a 2001 ram with 40000 miles on it. I would like to start running biodiesel. My question is, can I start out with a 50/50 mix with pump diesel, or will I be clogging filters or worse? Thanks for any info

An '01 will run fine on BD but may clog filters for the first couple of tanks.
Go for it!

Thanks for the info. If I do clog a filter, is it as easy as throwing in another filter or will I need to bleed out the system?

no, just change the filter out as needed. There are some posts here on how to change the filter. I coordinated my first filter change to be a few hundred miles after my first tank of bio.

Been running great ever since. I find that 20% bio works best for me.

I saw for the first time that my local 76 station now caries B-20. But I drive an 07 5.9... From what I have read, this is a no go on the common rails!

B20 is no problem with CRI.
Be careful if you exceed B75 though.

If I run B20, will I need to constantly clean the screen on the inlet side of my raptor pump?

any time i drive near the station that has bio near me. about 80 miles from here. i fuel up with b-99. other wise i just fuel up with #2 at local stations.
i made the mistake of putting in the higher sulfur fuel a couple times while in az. didn't see the warning of not for use in 07 and newer diesel vehicles. got a transient egr code, twice. i've got almost 3,000 miles since i used the higher sulfur type fuel, with no additional codes.
i don't notice any difference in mileage, but the engine runs quieter with bio. my fathers gas f--d has more engine noise.

So you ran B99 in your 08 MegaCab with no problems? I've been wanting to use Bio in my two Diesels, thought about running B20 and if it runs good, uping it to about B50 or so
