Neg effect of long term homemade bio use

Has anyone found any negative longterm side effects from using the used vegi oil, methanol, and lye. Im thinking about making my own, but I was just wondering if here is anything to look out for? Oh it will be going in a 2nd gen, 3rd gen, and a couple of powerstrokes.

How long-term do you want to know about? I been running both my trucks, a 96 and a 99 on it since before Katrina, and have only visited the pump once, in the 96, since before Katrina. That was only because I was 300+ miles from home. I'll definitely be a long-term guinnea pig, but I don't have that much time under my belt yet. Fro people who have a lot more time under their belt, visit biodiesel.infopop.cc, or http://forums.biodieselnow.com/ and ask them.
