looking for help on cummins swap in a excursion

I'm looking to do a cummins swap on my 00 excursion v10. I hear this is the best forum out here on cummins. So could someone help me on what motor to choose. Mine is a 4x4 so I wanna keep it. I don't care if I go 5 or 6 speed or just automatic. If some one could help me that would be great

It all depends on how much you want to spend. I am currently in progress with my swap in an excursion. I plan on the whole engine/trans/t-case from the Dodge.

Just finished a conversion

I just finished putting an 03 Cummins in to a 2001 F250. I used the 4R100 from the Ford and used all Destroked parts. Feel free to PM me with any questions

How is the 4R100 working for you? I'm concerned with the narrow rpm range of a 12V that a better fit would be the 5R110. You may have a bit more rpm on the 03?

IIRC there was someone on here that did a CR swap in an excursion and had a thread on it. Cant recall the user name at the moment but maybe someone else knows and will chime in.

As for price, anything you reuse will ultimately be the cheapest route. The VE (89-93) motors will probably be the cheapest to find but at the risk of higher mileage. A p-pump motor (94-early 98) will probably be the easiest/most cost effective as it has minimal electronics and basic mods for a little more umph are free/fairly cheap.

On a side note, anyone on this site will gladly spend all your money on the best of the best parts haha. The best way (I think) is to read the wealth of information that this site provides, and come to a decision based on your needs/wants/desires/budget and go from there.

believe the 5r110 needs a min of 300 hp to properly work, from what i was told. Fixing to do an 04 with the 5r110. first 04 was a zf so it was a easy one.

Read the thread that 5.9excursion has done. He put an 04 common rail in a gas excursion. There is about 25 pages of reading and tons of knowledge. I have read his post at least 4 times. He did use the 48/re if I remember right. Please post as you go, maybe I can learn something as well. I will not be starting my conversion for a while. I think the 5r110 would be great, but I don't think I would have the apitience to program it.

Programing the 5r110 is beging not to be an issue especially if you use a cr and they are telling me that its begining to be less trouble with the vp motors. the 12v on the other hand is still a pita. Starting on my 2nd one and this one is a 04 auto..
