love the way you guys think- this is an excellent thread!!!

i HAVE a '46 ****** jeep but not touchin' it with a diesel....

I HAVE a 5 cyl mercedes engine and a (30ft) boat but did think of a diesel instead of twin 350s.....

My hubby has a 1940 plymouth truck (how many can say that!) that is ready for the dump (he left it sit for 20 years) so that could be a candidate.

MY PERSONAL dream was to chop down a 70s Kenworth and put a 5.7 in it, just cause I am 5 ft..........

I've been contemplating a Mercedes 4-pot and stick in an early 70's Toyota truck. Already put a Mercedes 4-cyl and auto into my f-i-l's 1947 Ford 1/2 tonner. I'm not gonna say it bolted right in, but it was a pretty easy fit.

a friend of mine wants to put a perkins P3 into a trike.
the p3's were around in the 50's only about 30hp on a good day, but masses of torque for a little engine.

I also have a 16ft plywood hull inboard jet boat that was built by a friend in 1963 and originally had a 265 small-block chev and know has a broken 350 small block. The old jet-pump can only handle about 4000 rpm. I've been thinking about dropping a diesel in it to make it the stupidest boat on the lake. Cruising arount running home brew bio would be cool.

I was thinking a 57 chevy or gmc pickup would be sweet with a 6bt or maybe even a 4 cyl detroit. How about a 64-65 falcon with a 5 cyl mercedes??

i kept getting tired of 8-10 mpg out of my amc 401 powered cherokee chief that already had a nv4500 behind the 401.

Square headlights arent my cup of tea so the radiator support was already going under the knife.....

and then i started looking at the spare turbo's and intercoolers i have been accumulating over the years and so ............... i started measuring my chief to see just what might fit. then i bought a 4bta for 1800 and a dodge 24v that was siezed for a couple bucks more with engine adapter plate and all the brackets tensioner ect.................

needless to say 12 months later i had even more parts in my garage nagging at me calling for me to do something with them....... then the amc 401 developed a sticky valve and lost a hole.............. nothing like a little motivation. that was a little over a month ago

So my imagination was a a wide track 2 door jeep cherokee chief with a all the bells and whistles including AC to be sporting a comfortably installed 4bta. A 4bta with a air to air cooler a HY35 and some injectors to keep things interesting. nothing like a mis-guided and under powered diesel to dampen the way things should be. so ma little love to the power screw to compliment those other goodies and puff you have a little 230 cubic inch wonder hopefully spinning out somwheres between 180-200hp and 420-470 ft/lbs where before you had a 120 hp and 290 ft/lbs

anyways current status is smokey fantasies can become reality with enough broken skin and they can be done on a budget.

still have plenty to do before it will be road worthy but i am pretty stoked

Next one of interest on my list is that v8 cummins coming in the 1/2 tons..... if not for the simplicity of the 4bt i would have probably waited and sourced a v8 in a couple of years just to try it out in the chief.

I really wanted to install a 4v53t or a 3v53t into the chief because of the ability to install a true jake and for the sound of a screaming jimmy but alas i was struggling to find one in decent shap and then the 4bt came along tuffy decission

We've got a '39 Plymouth - bought new by my great-grandfather. Dad's daily driver until 1976 when it was parked here. Dreamed of fixing it up for about 30 years, but had nowhere to put it and no restoration skills. Recently acquired a big barn with concrete floor, so it should be out of the weather very soon!

I actually saw one of these (maybe Dodge) with a CTD transplant on eBay a couple of years ago. Sold for $14K. If I'd only had the money...
That got me thinking about a transplant or maybe putting the body on my truck if it would fit. Still have few zero fabrication experience and few mechanical skills, but I've been learning a lot of mechanical stuff the last few years.

This was taken just after I got it up out of the dirt:

I'd like to take a Mercedes 617 turbodiesel and drop it in a Fox bodied Mustang. Light car with lots of aftermarket suspension and brake stuff available plus an efficient and reliable engine that makes adequate power. I figure it would run about as good as a V-6 Mustang and get in the low 30's for mileage - plus it would handle and stop very well. Could be a fun and unique commuter car.

Maybe by the time ol' Butterscotch rusts out I'll have a garage so I can make it happen.

I think a cummins would sweeten it up just right.
