1st gen radiator/intercooler swaped into 2nd gen
I have a pretty clean 97 ram 2500 4x4 ext cab, 360 gas engine with the nv4500, looking to do a 12 valve swap through my research i think i have the trans and ecu/gauges figured out
anyone know if the charge air cooler and radiator from a first gen are similar to a second gen? are the motor mounts different?
i seem to have better luck finding first gen donor trucks in rough shape. and am looking to buy one later this week

The motor mounts are different, and the 24 valve mounts are different as well, I found out the hard way. They will bolt on to the first gen engine though. You would probably be better using a 2nd gen radiator and intercooler, note that the fan bracket is different between a first and 2nd gen as well. I would not steer from using the first gen engine but use as much 2nd gen stuff as you can unless you're ok with fabricating mounts for everything.

If you are looking to run the 4500 you'll need a second-gen flywheel housing as well.
I'd try using the current radiator and getting a second-gen intercooler. You probably have more radiator for your 360 than the first-gen Cummins came with.

thanks guys i found a deal on a 95 reg cab 2wd cummins truck over the weekend. its a lot harder to find a 2nd gen donor than i thought. all the little items i will need adds up fast if i had bought a 1st gen.
the body is rough she has expanding foam sprayed in the rust holes that is cut off flush and rolled with truck bed liner. ha ha but it probably looked ok for a while when it was done. seems all stock runs and drives great. im going to run her hard till the weather warms up to cut her apart.
