1984 K5 Repower
We'll here is my repower program to date.
1984 K5 Blazer 4x4 6.2 Detroit 700r4 np208 4" lift new 35" bfg at tires. I just bought a 92 d250 2x4 auto 5.9 ctd. Also bought a rear corporate 14 bolt full float with 4.10 and a 3/4 ton dana 44 front with 4.10. Still don't know what I'm going to do about a tranny yet, options are a nv4500/np205 or the stock auto in the d250 and a np205. The Dodge is kinda fast for a stock engine and tranny with 176k on it. Here is what I got into it so far.
K5 paid 1250.00
lift pump for the 6.2 20.00
D250 paid 1600.00
14 bolt 175.00
Dana 44 175.00
Total is 3220.00
The dodge needs a ip(leaks bad) @ 700.00-750.00 and the fuel heater is also leaking.
Here are a few pictures.

What year did your D44 come out of? The reason I ask is in the 1979 model year all 1/2 and 3/4 ton fronts were switched to Corporate 10 bolts, many do not know that.
The corporate 10 Bolt was stronger than the D44, and you can save a bunch of work by just swapping spindles out.
4.10 is way too steep of a gear for a Cummins, I have them currently in my 79 K20/4BT swap. 62 MPH is flat out at 2500 with no O/D.
You may want to consider trying to trade the 6BT for a good 4BT, plenty of power and a whole lot less weight hanging on the front of that thing, my 4BT sags the stock 3/4 ton front springs pretty good.

I also am leaning towards the nv4500/205 combo, It kind depends on cost. It would be cheaper to mod. the current tranny to 4wd, the nv4500 plus all the stuff to convert to a manual will be costly. I have to buy a np205 no matter what out of a 89-93 dodge passenger drop, I think they are the same auto/man.

I will be running 35" tires with a overdrive tranny for sure, so I will stick with the 4.10 for 4-wheelin in the rocky mnts.
There is a 400 pound difference in the engines plus the bumper I'm going to build and a winch, so your are right there will be alot of extra weight up there, but I will have to beef up the springs and deal with it cause the 5.9 is staying

My donor is a od auto tranny so I assume it is a 518. Is there a full manual valve body kit for this tranny? That would eliminate the tv cable and simplify things, and I could run my stock np208 divorced. This would save me some money now and I could always switch later to a nv4500 if it fails or I come into some money. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row before I tear into it. Thanks

You can get a rebuild kit for about $40 for the VE, for all the seals....you might try that before you drop 700 on a new pump.
EDIT:
Cool swap by the way!!!

It only took an hour to build a bracket for me to use the factory GM A/C and it took no frame notching or hose changes. There is a pic in my album. I have the freightliner brackets on my engine, but I am sure something similiar could be done with a dodge. I just was not crazy about notching the frame any more than needed. There are brake lines you will have to redo as well if you go that route.
