Yes I connected it and the speedo tries to work but isn’t. Kinda bounces. Maybe not tight enough? It worked fine before the swap (the gauge that is)

 

The cable could be gummed up. When I Cummins swapped my '85 white crew cab I pull that inner square drive center out the whole cable, cleaned it up and rubbed it with White Lithium grease before sliding it back into the cable sheath. That was about 10 years ago and it still works well..
