Would You Run For Pinkslips?

I was watching the speed channel, and saw this show called Pinks, where they race for pink slips. I looked on here and there is a discussion about it a few days ago. Aparrently Bully Dog, with a 2003 Dodge, went up against a gasser on this show, but it hasn't aired yet. No info on when it will air yet.

I just don't have the stones to do it, myself. I think my truck is fast and all, but I never claim to be the fastest, or the best built. I have too much invested, time and money, in my truck to get involved in something that really could go either way, and I'd feel bad taking some other guy's truck anyway, cause I'm sure he'd love his truck at least half as much as I love mine.

What about you?

Chris

Could you imagine payin' on a loan for a truck that belongs to somebody else for the next 4 to 5 years? Just slit my wrists and be done with my miserable **** if that were the case.

You didn't have an option for what kind of crack you were smoking so I voted no way. I'd never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever run my truck for pinks. I don't care if it was a parachuter with a 100mph headwind. I'd never run for slips. Ever.

I was out at our local drag races on my old sportbike which would run low-mid 11's with me on it (magazine tested it at 10.79), and a guy with a 280z wanted to race me for pinks. I knew it was modded up and he had nitrous, but I still knew I could take him easily. Even so, if I missed a shift or had any issue I would lose my bike so of course I said no.

We ended up racing just for fun, and I only beat him by about 3 car lengths. That thing was fast.

Theres a lot of variables in a drag race to bet 10-40k+ on just 10-16 seconds of time. You have to be extremely ballsy.

I wouldn't do it but I'm sure those guys on Pinks get some $$$ for being on the show. I was kind of upset last night because rumor had it that that's when they were showing the CTD racing... I wish they would just give you the schedule!!!

From www.pinks.TV.com

The Rules

Best three out of five, quarter-mile track, arm-drop start. Everything else is negotiable.
Yes, that is the COMPLETE list of rules.

Do racers really lose their vehicles?

Yes. The thing to remember is that the winning racer owns the other racer's vehicle BY LAW after the competition. They may do what ever they want with the vehicle after the show is completed. Vehicles have already been won and sold on eBay for a profit.

Do racers get paid for being on the show?

No.
Although very nostalgic with the 'arm-drop' start.
and I'm sure MUCH cheaper for them to rent the track without electronics and track personnel.....

I'd rather see them run off the Christmas tree.
Less chance of one car gaining an advantage on a foul start.

when pimpin' in an H2 isn't good enough......

at least now you can see where the savings on track rent is going.....

When I was younger, can't say I was anymore dumb than today, I did. Had a '63 Fairlane that would spank the Mustang GTs of the late '80s. I ran for a slip, won and sold the car back to him for $500 when he started crying like a baby. I was 17 years old and this guy was like 35....he was runnin through the parking lot "my wifes gonna kill me" wah wah wah....I did feel sorry for him though.

Now, my truck, NO WAY.

I would in a Min.

It's the best way I can think of to get rid of a junk pile. I paid the city $70 once to haul off a POJ. I should have found a sucker to race with it first.
