The point is, here, that pink slip runs aren't normally bracket races. In theory, bracket racing is set up so that both guys get to the end fo the track at the same time, if everything else is consistent. This is how they even up the vehicles to make the drivign count.
When I watched the show Pinks I saw no bracket racing. They "negotiated" the handicap on each run, and it was not necessarily fair.

Bracket racing is more fair, in that if you lose you only have yourself to blame, for the poor reaction time, not hooking up well, etc.

Still, I wouldn't even bracket race for slips. Racing is fun, but when you start betting 20K+ on a race, and you're not a millionaire, it's no longer fun, it's dead serious. Some may have the stones for it, but not me.

Somebody voted did it and lost...who was it!!
C'mon now, we won't rid ya too hard.

Oh, and I'd never do it with anything, because I don't drag race. I set up my stuff to do too many things good that they don't do one thing great.

NO

But seriously FWIW, In the state I live the "pink" is only a registration and has nothing to do with who owns the vehicle and can't transfer ownership. So maybe the show should be called "titles"?

Any show that wastes 1/2 an hour on a guy running a chevy celebrity, or somebody taking 15 lengths because thier p hurts should be on at 3:30 AM in China. I used to street race about 8 years back and the rules were run what you brung, winner gets to brag, and run from the cops if need be.

Hey, if you can afford to lose it then go for it! I know for sure that I couldn't afford to lose it so I'll pass on the pinks. I have riden with some buds that have raced for pinks...sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but I had a buddy one time race his 69 Camaro for pinks, and lost. I asked him if he was upset and said not as much as the guy that won it would be later, he supposedly dropped a little sand into the oil before the guy picked it up later that day I didn't see that car again for over a year.

I have had a guy take a power wagon hemi off the lot, put a jet chip on it, and tell me that he would smoke me left and right. he told me his chip gives more than mine does.

Keep in mind, i live at 8500ft altitude and my stock 1500 Hemi would run 11.5's 0-60, add the power wagon weight and he is in the high 12's 0-60 and i run in the mid 6's.

he said we should race for slips and i said sure where do you want to race and he just laughed and said he didnt want to embarass me. I said lets just race for a couple hundred bucks then and he said no again. Sissy keeps talking smack about how his truck is quicker than mine when he knows i will leave him like his first prom date

I hate people like that. Want to talk the talk but can't/won't back it up. Guys like that I just shut down by telling them "...to pull it up the line. If you aren't gonna do that then I don't want to hear any more out of you." This works better when there are lots of people around.

pinks

back in the 60s we had what was called super eliminator. winner of each class ran off of national record for the money. a 55 chevy stationwagon was always in it. the spot he got off the tree he was in 3rd gear hammer down before my lite turned green. got to his front door a few times never did beat him. he was really a nice guy. called the car the milkwagon because he owned a dairy.

the worst thing about the show is the handicaps...THATS NOT RACING NOR IS IT FAIR! when you race...its heads up buddy...theoretically i could ride a tricycle there and negotiate enough of a lead to win a sick nova

I saw the one with the old Camaro and Nova last night and the guy in the Camro was pretty smart and knew how to drive. I liked the part where he beat him when he was able to use 2 stages of nitrous to the novas 1 and he won, got out of the car and said I never even touched the second stage. He wound up winning the Nova.

HMMMM....lets see here, this was a nitrous car, driveshaft broke, engine jumped up to redline and hit the rev limiter, and now we have a nitrous backfire through the carb. Pretty Simple.

Trevin (camaro driver on pinks) is one of the machinests that I use.

He can all but pull a miracle out of a small block.

Sorry back to the subject.

Later,
Wes

Pinks seems to be all about the negotiating. Sandbaggin, BSing, liftin off of throttle (if you are way ahead and want to "appear slower) or flooring it at the right time will get the win. I don't have enough money to lose my ride so there is no way I would do it!

Just way to much on the line. I don't care how fast your ride is, all it takes is a blown rear end, u-joint, driveshaft, etc, and you loose your ride... the fastest car in the world can be beat by a Yugo if it breaks a $10.00 part... All I could say is I would have to have enough money to be able to immediately buy it back (at any cost) before the thought would ever come to mind.
