My girlfriend's stock 2WD '03 Toyota Tacoma has an electric operated differential.

If I remember correctly there was a version of the 416 Unimog that had a torque converter mounted on the front of the manual transmission. This set up apparently gave it some amazing pulling power. Enough to use them as airport and railroad tugs.
