Truck Pull June 30, Newland NC

Wanted to go ahead and get this post started for the pull on June 30th at Newland. There is going to be a big pull there June 30th and July 1st, its a nationals pull. They are SUPPOSED to let stock trucks pull after all the other classes that night, so I think we need some CUMMINS POWER to show the powerjokes and duramaxiepads who is boss. We may be able to turn this into a get-together, if we get enough people to go from this site. I'll be in summer school then, but get out around 1pm, so hopefully I'll be there plenty early.

Mark, I hope you got your truck figured out, and hope you can be there to pull some nice distances. If anybody else is going, post up here, so we can figure out if we want to meet ahead of time somewhere(a little gas station/diner named Peggy's is right up the road, and cooks darn good hamburgers).

I'll be going. Last year the stockers didn't pull, on saturday anyway, due to the event running so long. Hopefully this year they'll let them go. If the last pull was anything to go by then the fords are begining to fall short of the dodges and even chevys. The best ford last time was 4th, this time they might not even make the top 5.
I'd like to be able to pull, but I'll have the new turbo on and the tranny won't quite be up to snuff anymore.

I would love to go but will be out of town that weekend, I still havent fixed the truck will do a compression test in the morning to know if the head is comming off or not. 2 years ago I went to the pull but they wouldnt let me pull because I had ladder bars on my truck, the pull is NTPA sanctioned and they will run the pull, stock trucks only.

hope to see you the end of July.

I called down there and they said that "stock trucks" were allowed to pull, but John said that they are real strict on the stock part.
Mike, if you got some different info let me know.

Tim, we may need that CP3 and injectors a little earlier.

What is the sactioning body for this? Just curious. Is the "stock" truck pull, "Stock" or just novice pullers. My truck is not stock, but I am a novice puller. Might be fun to check this out and an hook up afterwards. Might be coming back from the Outer Banks around then. Might drop the camper, and hook to a sled?

I wish I knew about these things earlier. I would have been going. Not to participate though. Wife and son love the trucks too and would like to meet other members. The only problem is that it makes my diesel habit worse.

I would imagine the rules are for the trucks not the drivers. Even though you might be a newbie to pulling a modded truck might keep you on the sideline.
A while back I posted rules for the virginia tractor pullers association, and if the ntpa have rules very close to this, you would need to run factory exhaust, no dual tires, single turbo. Some farily strick rules, it really is a "stock" class. Best bet would be to meet down there for the next one, July 22nd.
Couldn't find any ntpa rules online, but did find some for the atpa super stock diesel 4x4 class:
http://www.atpapullersonline.com/DIE...CK%20rules.doc
Too bad this isn't indiana, there would probably be multiple diesel classes, this area is a little behind the eight ball.

Wow, yeah those rules sound like for the professionals. I just kind of want to do a "back yard pull" so to speak and there are some over on this side of the state I guess. I know if classes are set that since I have twins (small twins), I'd have to run big boys.......I don't even know if I could move the sled the big boys move. I just wanted to try it sometime for fun, not necessarily for the competition just to see how my truck would do.

Tiger Rag, Bring your truck to the Newland pull on the 22nd of July you can pull it then, only rules say 26" hitch height limit, and under 8000LB, and no nitrous or blocks even though thats not in the rules. Good Luck

[QUOTE=JDGPULLER] only rules say 26" hitch height limit, and under 8000LB, and no nitrous or blocks QUOTE]

I've got an adustable height hitch, so that wouldn't be a problem. I guess I just need a clevis to fit it....not sure where to get one though? I'll look online at putnam since it's a putnam hitch.

Under 8000 lbs....dunno on truck alone......truck and gooseneck trailer are 22,000 combined.

No nitrous = no problem. I don't have that.

Blocks? Not sure what you mean on this. On the rear leafs? I've got air bags, would that be a problem?

Biggest thing I'd worry about is my clutch. I guess if I got the con OFE engaged early before the weight climbed I'd be OK. I know most pullers have a DD, just don't want to ruin the OFE, just playing around....I know, I know, if you want to play, you have to pay.....but still, just want to limit tearing it up.

Hmmm, have to think about it, but seems like it would be a lot of fun.

the blocks mean no solid blocked rear suspension. My 97 with OFE didnt make it down the track 1 time, but there may have been something wrong with it before hand not sure. Havent pulled since we put in the DD, and south bend didnt cut me any slack on the year old OFE, unless Tim can get him to do something, if you burn it it will be yours, actually it is already yours. The good thing about the OFE is that one side is metalic pucks so you will most likley be able to drive it home if it does burn up.
