Talked to Dave for a couple of hours, before I bought mine. He was at home, too. Could hear the kids messing with piano in the background. LOL

For racing, I think you will need to spend more than $4k. The billet shafts are exensive. I think $4k will get you a Goerend tranny with the billet input shaft included. No other billet, though. I should've went ahead and had him install billet in mine, but didn't have the $$ for it at the time, and the tranny wasn't gonna allow me to wait. Slipping bad, even empty.

I don't think a 40/35 hybrid will be enough turbo. I can make plenty of heat with the PDR HX-40, and the 191s aren't in yet. Still sitting in the box, waiting for a socket.

Haven't heard of anyone breaking shafts on a shift. Most if not all shaft breakage is done on the launch. I wouldn't even think of racing a truck and throwing a hard launch on it without a billet input and output shaft regardless of who built the tranny. The intermediate is a pretty hefty piece and will handle normal 20 -25 psi launches. My stock output broke on an easy 10 psi launch. I've went as quick as a 1.66 60 foot time on the billet output.

I broke the imput shaft on the 2-3 shift, at the Truckin for kids meet in Lancaster, CA 2 years ago, this was after a local shop modified the valve body. I replaced the valve body with a new ATS unit and a HD imput shaft installed. Then the flexplate let go, I had a SFI certified flex plate installed, after that I lunched the hardened imput, convertor and front drum. ATS covered it all under warranty with a small deductable for the $3,000.00 in parts. ATS and Bellflower transmission have been more than fair with me when upgrading or replacing broken parts that were no fault of theirs.

I broke an input shaft on a 1-2 shift with the TC engaged after the shift.

You break output shafts doing stall tests or high boost launches at the track.

I would much rather break an output then an input hands down!!!! Much easier to change. When the input goes it usually takes out the pump and possibly the TC.
