Raced the truck on 40s

Well I got to run the truck on the 40s last weekend (truck show). Ran real good but it was real hot , I think in the high 90s with some wind. My best time was 14.01@92 . Launched real good, averaged 1.80 60fts and the truck lurched real good with no swaybars. Sunday the weather was perfect in the mid 80s. Right before eliminations I was making one test run and I snapped the output shaft. I was hoping for a 13.80 or so with the cooler weather. Now if I want to run the truck at my truck I will have to put the dougnut tires on to drop the crank height low enough. Overall I had a good time but I could have done without the breakage.

Yeah, I saw your truck run on Saturday..... that thing is so awesome! I like the blue paint job as well. Just watching that thing launch was cool, but I bet it was a bumpy ride inside the cab. That thing probably scares little kids.

I don't think I managed to get any video of your truck running though. Sorry. I was planning on taking some on Sunday but when I walked back from a quick trip in to the show, your truck was on the starting line broken.

I was disappointed in the lack of Cummins diesels running... I think you were the only one besides the new stock dually that was running. I was there in my Dakota R/T. Lots of Powerstrokes this year.....

Wow
If you are running 14.0 on 40" swampers... what would you run on smaller street slicks?

With 4.10s my truck pulls a lot better with 35s than the stock 31s. Hard to put much load on it so that it will build boost with the small tires.

Thanks , I just painted it the previous week. I had about 50 hours in the job and its still needs some buffing but I ran out of time before the event. I was pretty much the only cummins running out there but there was twin turbo dmax that was pretty cool but he was having some fuel pressure problems. Travis, what dak was yours?

njoverkill, with my previous setup (single turbo) I picked up 4 tenths and 6mph but I had massive traction problems so couldn't get out of the hole very fast. I think mostly because of the lift and how much my truck lurches around but now I have a locker so that should help.

duke1n, I think 35s would be perfect for my truck except at the track I go to they are really pick on NHRA rules so my crank height would be about 2"s to high to race. I do run out of steam when I run the 31s though and the truck looks really funnny

Hey Jambbii,

My Dak is a blue CC with a white tailstripe (no not the one that ran 11's). This year I didn't race mine since I had it up for sale, so I just had it sitting in the pits with a for sale sign on it. I've been to the Truckin Nationals every year since 2000 and this is the first year I haven't raced (last year I ran a best of 13.5). So I actually had time to video and walk around and see the truck show, etc. I just sold my Dak on Saturday (I bought the Ram 2 months ago to replace it and to use as a tow vehicle for my Cuda that's been under construction since I've been playing with the Dak the last 5 years).

Is the twin turbo Duramax the silver stock looking one in this video? That truck is so unassuming looking and yet ran 13's. If you look hard you can see your truck in the background in the staging lanes.....

Yeah thats that one with twins. He is getting real close to the 12s on #2 . Last year he had the lifted blue dmax on nitrous that was in the high 12s. Is the dak in the 11s Blain's?

Oh yeah.... I actually really liked the lifted blue Duramax from last year. That was a nice truck. I didn't realize it's the same guy. The silver truck is stealthy.

There were actually two Dak's in the 11's this year. Blaine (Duner) has the black regular cab with the stripe down the side. Mike Pitts has the blue club cab with the silver tailstripe. Both awesome trucks and both really cool guys.

That is an LLY TWINMAX by Nathan Wright (IdahoCTD) Owner is Chad Simper from Utah.

It is an unassuming looking truck... much like mine is setup. "Sleeper" or "Q-Ship".
Whatever the term you use, it seems that those of us with Twin Chargers are keeping our trucks as stock looking as we can on the outside. Wouldn't want to scare the Fudds away now would we?
