thanks justin... its real thick steel so i dont think it will break, and the guy who welded it is pretty good.

i'll eventually get a set up like yours with the pintle loop and 5 way adjustment

hello...i have a few pictures of my hitch that i designed, that has worked really well....i have made several of these hitches for my friends and if you have any questions on them write back...i will send you some pics so you can get some ideas.

Some red paint would net you at least a few more feet

On my sledpulling hitch the loop is bright orange! I think it looks different and helps it standout when I decide to put it on the truck just for kicks and giggles when driving around! lol.

can this be used in a sled pull? or does it HAVE to be a rigid loop? I built it a few days ago to use as a tow point for offroad recoverys. But never thought about pulling with it.

It is 2" soild stock. 5/8" backing plate, with 2....1/2" laser cut eyes laminated together. powdercoated it at work too. The clevis is a 1 3/8" with a WLL of 13 1/2 tons. I'm pretty sure the ID is at least 3" in the center.

Yes, that will work fine but eventually you'll want something with more height and a stable horizontal hooking point.

the place where Justin got his 5 position channel on ebay does not carry them any more just the 3 position

The one I have that worked for me last weekend for 3 pulls and I made it for 20 min of my time and some free stuff I had around.

how many of you are pulling off the factory reciever with a 3rd gen, i took mine out and built my own reciever higher and closer when i installed my roll pan. the stock one just didnt look very strong.
my reciever is solid 2" with a clevis welded/fixed, i just welded it 1/4" low to be safe. but point of hook can be set in flush with tailgate handle. so the fixed design allows for the hitch to be closer.
